The Orchestra, one of the moving forces of the opera, strengthens its worldwide reputation. Since its creation in 1983, several music directors have led it: John Eliot Gardiner first, then Kent Nagano, Louis Langrée, Iván Fischer, Kazushi Ono, and since 2017, Daniele Rustioni who was appointed Music Director by Richard Brunel in 2022. From the 2025/2026 season, he will be appointed Music Director Emeritus.
The Orchestra performs on the world's major stages, notably in Japan and Oman, and at major opera festivals such as Edinburgh and Aix-en-Provence. He has also taken part in over 70 recordings and videos. In 2023, he celebrates his 40th birthday.
