A moment of rare poetry. Daniele Rustioni and Sara Jakubiak bring together two moving musical worlds in the season’s first major concert.
The season gets underway with a display of intense lyricism. The orchestra’s first concert pays homage to the last of the German Romantics: Richard Strauss. The American soprano Sara Jakubiak, a great performer of his operatic work, here brings to life the legacy that is the Four Last Songs, the sombre, melancholy farewell of a composer whose life is drawing to a close.
