Sharon Eyal, one of the most famous choreographers in the world, blended ballet and clubbing into House, a techno-infused love letter to dance – and a novelty for our Ballet. The piece breaks down in several parts, each representing a room of the house inhabited by the dancers; but this world, this home, is in an crisis depicted through several solo or group sequences, echoing and melting into one another. The score, composed by techno music DJ Ori Lichtik, is a rhythmic combination of nightclub beats and ballet music, with contemporary undertones. While this ode to dance – in its every form – is deployed through sensuous yet exact gestures, its clinical quality is transcended by the deep emotion it conveys.
