The storm clouds will be gathering over the Lyon Opera House as conductor Daniele Rustioni takes to the podium for this concert, as English theatre adds its own touch to the symphonic genre.
Rediscovered in the 19th century, Shakespeare fascinated all of Europe. His plays allowed musicians to completely rethink genres. Mendelssohn’s Romantic Germany and Tchaikovsky ’s tsarist Russia, here represented by A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest, set the stage for this magical, marvellous concert.
