Director Lorraine de Sagazan’s striking piece delves into the violent representation system created by the porn industry. By telling the story of its unheard victims, the piece gives them back their voice.
Dogs is a plastic and musical installation revolving around the French Bukkake case, a notorious trial on sexual abuse in the porn field. With several Bach cantatas as a starting point, director Lorraine de Sagazan blends the sacred repertoire with the crude words uttered during such scenes – which are not shown visually. With singing as a sublimation of the cry, this focus on violence is a rallying one, beyond the piece’s documentary aspects. Dogs is performed by a chorus and the musicians of the Miroirs Étendus ensemble.
