In a few words

In this short piece for dancer, violinist and visual artist, Thomas Guerry and Arcosm invite us to reflect on the idea of instability as a liberating and creative force, while emphasising the beauty of chaos.

Introductory

On stage, a dancer and a violinist perform in an everyday setting (a bench, a lamppost, a coat rack) that a manipulative sculptor, who is part mad scientist, part mechanical genius, transforms into something mysterious and unpredictable, using constraints to free the imagination and movement.

In praise of entropy
This piece of dance theatre, developed by Thomas Guerry and Arcosm, aims to challenge a preconceived idea by turning it on its head: is stability really necessary for our fulfilment? Isn't it basically a source of inertia? Is it not rather surprise, instability, the sudden arrival of the unexpected which encourage us to evolve, to adapt, to be freer in our movements and, therefore, our thoughts? If this is the case for a dancer or a musician, then it may be true for all of us. This piece, created for a dancer, a musician and a visual artist, demonstrates this with great poetry in a series of choreographic statements that increase the entropy of the environment in which the performers evolve.

Arcosm is funded by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication/DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. The company receives additional support from the City of Lyon and Spedidam. Residencies: La Chapelle Sainte-Marie / Cie La Barraka (Annonay), Pôle Pik (Bron), Le Gymnase CDCN (Roubaix), Très Tôt Théâtre (Quimper).
