Soprano

Déborah Salazar*

Soprano Déborah Salazar is an opera singer of French and Mexican descent. She honed her skills at the Académie de l’Opéra-Comique in Paris and the Wigmore French Song Exchange, and at the Académie Jaroussky in the Nadia and Lili Boulanger class. She was awarded the First Prize at the International Competition of Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini and received several awards at the Met’s Laffont Competition (New York). She graduated from the École normale de musique de Paris and the International Opera Academy (Ghent), where she made her stage debut in the roles of Serpetta in La Finta Giardiniera (Mozart), Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de perles (Bizet) and Elsie in Triumph of Spirit over Matter (Henderickx). She played the part of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), sung the lead in Alcina (Handel) and La Belle au bois dormant (Silver) at the Saint-Étienne Opera, and portrayed Violetta in La Traviata (Verdi) at the Bordeaux National Opera, Clarice in Il mondo della luna (Haydn) at the Metz Opera, Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel (Humperdinck) at the Avignon Opera and Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Mozart) at the Clermont-Ferrand Opera. She also sung the lead in Chimène ou le Cid (Sacchini) and the part of the Matelote in Le Pauvre Matelot (Milhaud) with the ARCAL. She has performed at several opera houses, in Vichy, Lille, Massy, Reims, Antwerp, Ghent and Geneva, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées (Paris), La Seine Musicale (Boulogne-Billancourt), Wigmore Hall (London), the Armel Opera Festival (Budapest) and La Folle Journée in Nantes, collaborating with the Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Palazzetto Bru Zane. In 2026, Déborah Salazar joined the Lyon Opera Studio, where she will spend two seasons.
