Double bassist Sarah Murcia convinced us a while ago that there was no such thing as a musical taboo. Whether with Jacques Higelin, Rodolphe Burger, Louis Sclavis, Kamilya Jubran or Magic Malik, she has always maintained a rare integrity of sound and aesthetics. Arranger, composer and sound designer, she gives herself free rein, but never gratuitously. It was obvious that if anyone was going to bring the Sex Pistols into the Lyon Opera House, it was her. With Never Mind the Future, she has succeeded in deconstructing the iconic punk album, which was already itself a deconstruction of a rock and roll movement that had become complacent. The spirit is there: irreverent but relevant. This is uncompromising and vibrant music that shocks by its inventiveness.
