Romanian tenor Cătălin Pop trained at the National Academy of Music Gheorghe Dima in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), in the class of Marius Budoiu. He honed his skills in numerous masterclasses, including at the Salbek Opera Festival (Romania), where he was taught by Ramón Vargas, Ruxandra Donose and Leontina Văduva, at the Icon Arts Transylvania Festival with Salvatore Cordella and Diana Țugui, and at the Alexandru Fărcaș Cultural Association with Adela Zaharia. He collaborated with numerous conductors such as David Crescenzi, Simone Genuini, Adrian Morar and Cristian Sandu, and with directors Primo Antonio Petris, Mihaela Sandu, Anca Mihuț and Ina Hudea. He sung many Mozart parts, such as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Ferrando in Così fan tutte, and portrayed Lenski in Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) and Nemorino in L’Elisir d’amore (Donizetti). He was Rolf Gruber in The Sound of Music (Rodgers and Hammerstein) and Don Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) at the Cluj-Napoca Opera, Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro at the Atri Opera (Italy) and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (Mozart) with the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Sibiu (Romania). He performed in a concert version of La clemenza di Tito at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn (Vienna). In 2026, Cătălin Pop joined the Lyon Opera Studio, where he will spend two seasons.
