Les disques du festival permanent, the record label set up by Gaspar Claus and Flavien Berger, showcases the musical adventures of artists who generally pay no attention to boundaries between musical genres - between tradition and experimentation, the historical and the contemporary, music that is both pop and serious. A visit from two distantly related artists.
Borja Flames
Borja creates hypnotic music that veers between meticulous precision and anarchic outbursts. A kind of broken pop inspired, sometimes openly, sometimes not, by Arthur Russell, Robert Wyatt and Moondog. “Borja Flames looks like a Marxist intellectual but has the stage presence of a rock star, singing in literary Spanish over an experimental soundtrack.” Slate.fr
Marc Melià
Music for Prophet is a magnificent homage to the Prophet, the cult analog synthesizer which has been part of pop music since the end of the 1970s. There is a touch of electronic nostalgia about Marc Melià’s music but it remains the work of a curious composer whose solo pieces are a series of studies in the classical sense of the term, but which, thanks to the presence of the vocoder, never take themselves too seriously.
