This Brussels group has successfully forged its own identity outside current trends, with a non-literal approach to the music that inspires them. Originally conceived as a psychedelic interpretation of Ethio-Jazz, the group has drawn inspiration from all the different styles they have been exposed to, from afrobeat to New York jazz and avant-rock. These open-minded musicians have collaborated individually with Beck, Calexico and dEUS, and it shows in their music. Black Flower have created a unique sound, a hypnotic groove with dreamy overtones that sounds very different to their influences.
