About
Guibert’s project seeks to free the world from the paralysis of the last few months at a single stroke, bringing together 30 dancers and 30 choreographers in a celebration of movement.
A Return to Dance
At a time of both social and physical distancing, we’ve probably never craved movement and dance as much as in this post-lockdown period. That is why Guibert intends to give the stage over to her 30 dancers fornew solo pieces. She has invited 30 well-known choreographers to each write a solo dance piece. It is also a way of acknowledging the highly unusual working conditions necessitated by current health regulations, as well as a way ofmoving beyond them, bending/using/getting around them to her own advantage. To create at a distance and connect in a different way, celebrating the dancer’s individuality.
Guibert put these dancer/choreographer duos together with great care, taking into accountas far as possibleeach one’s particularities and affinities. The programme will be performed in three parts over the course of the season, with the first group of seven solos, created by Yuval Pick, Ioannis Mandafounis, Kylie Walters, Jan Martens, Bintou Dembélé, Mercedes Dassy and Jone San Martin,to be performed at the Lyon Opera House in September.

Why we love it
Because it is a unique opportunity to discover, in a single project, the work of the best contemporary choreographers
Why we love it
Because it is also a chance to get to know each dancer in the company as an individual
Why we love it
Because it is the ideal project (and the first of the new season) to bring movement back after weeks of immobility.
