Dance

The Lyon Opera Ballet occupies a unique place in the dance world, both within France and internationally. It is without doubt one of the best known French dance companies worldwide, famous for both its high standards and the openness of its repertoire. A top-level company composed of dancers with irreprochable technique, together with its new artistic director Julie Guibert, it has taken on the role of preserving the contemporary repertoire while opening itself up to the most avant-garde styles.

Danser Encore
In spring 2020, just when everything was starting to look impossible, the company took a massive leap forward with the Danser Encore (Dance Again) programme, a promise to dance again, in spite of everything, stubbornly. Artists were invited to write a solo piece for every one of the Lyon Opera Ballet’s 30 dancers. To find out more, click here
