Turkish psychedelic pop had its moment of glory during the 1970s, with now legendary artists such as Erkin Koray and Selda. These Turkish musicians’ interest in folklore and oriental melodies allowed them to develop a totally original style which still sounds new, thirty years later. Derya Yildirim, a young Turkish singer and multi-instrumentalist, based in Berlin, and Grup Simsek have taken up the torch and produce an electronic dance music in which the saz and keyboards undulate over a flow of wah-wah guitars.
